RHS PTSA is always looking to build new relationships with our community. RHS PTSA is a group of lighthearted, hardworking individuals who enjoy having new additions to our organization. Time commitments vary. Many board and chair positions are open and waiting to be filled by fresh new energy. Please consider taking on a role you find interesting or volunteer for just an event. This section will have shine a little light on many of volunteers. The Volunteer Spotlight hopes to recognize those who volunteer at Redmond High School. PTSA President: They will oversee and coordinate the work of the Executive Board to run a PTSA effectively while presiding over all PTSA Board and General Membership meetings. This position will serve as the official contacts, communicators and representatives of the PTSA and will work with the Board, the Principal, and the ASB to determine yearly goals and execute them effectively. The President is expected to effectively lead the Board to connect families, school, and community to support student success.

Membership Chair:The Membership Chairperson will work to create and implement a membership plan, promote membership throughout the year, collect dues, and distribute membership cards digitally. The chair will maintain up-to-date member records using approved software and report each month on the status of memberships to the Board. This is a very important position that is not required to attend Board meetings! It's vital to have someone oversee our membership roster and make sure our membership is accounted for correctly!

Fundraising Chair: This chair works to support the fundraising programs including the annual Pass the Hat donation programs and other PTSA teams to help with raising funds for specific events. This chair looks after passive fundraising opportunities such as Fred Meyer Community Rewards, corporate and volunteer matching and Bing Rewards programs.

Beautification Chair: Are you a gardening guru? Do you have a passion for flowers and plants? Then this role is for you! This chair will work with the Administration on improvements and maintenance of the school grounds and garden plantings. The chair will also work closely with school clubs, teams, and programs to schedule clean-up days throughout the school year. This chair also has the option to work with community businesses to receive assistance and guidance on how to beautify our school! This is a chair position and does not require attendance at monthly meetings.

External Grants Writer: This volunteer will be responsible for researching and acquiring grants from the outside community in support of RHS PTSA mission. The volunteer will work with Treasurer to research opportunities and write grant requests that will allow our school to benefit from local, national, and international grants in all areas of education.

 


 

How to Become a LWSD Approved Volunteer

Parents, Relatives, and Community Members - Each and every volunteer is REQUIRED to be approved by the Lake Washington School District background check prior to event day or starting a role. This is for the safety of our students and staff. The approval status of each volunteer is verified prior to event day or before a role begins, by a PTSA or school staff member.

If you are not already a LWSD-approved volunteer, it's an easy online application that takes only need 5-8 minutes. All you need is some personal info and an electronic copy of your photo ID. However, it can take a week or more to receive your approval.

Once you receive your LWSD approval confirmation email, volunteer approvals are valid for two years. To see if your volunteer application is still current, you can log into your Raptor Volunteer Portal, contact the volunteer office at 425-936-1270 or email volunteers@lwsd.org. If you need to renew your approval, please resubmit the same approval application.
